Hand Therapy

What is Hand Therapy?
Hand therapy often plays an important role in your recovery from problems or injuries affecting your hand and wrist. Hand therapy usually involves a combination of exercises, splints, heat, massage and other treatment modalities.
Hand therapists are qualified physiotherapists or occupational therapists with extra training in treating hand and upper limb conditions. Accredited Hand Therapist is the highest level of hand therapy qualification in Australia. The Australian Hand Therapy Association is the organisation that oversees hand therapist training.
Dr Green may refer you to a hand therapist to support your recovery. Your hand therapist and Dr Green work as a team to provide individualised care. Your progress is carefully monitored to make sure that you are achieving the expected goals. You may require fewer or more hand therapy sessions depending on your response to treatment. This team approach aims to provide the best possible outcome.
