About Dr Jennifer Green
Dr Jennifer Green is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in Hand, Wrist, and Microsurgery. She was educated in NSW and received her medical degree from the University of Newcastle in 1989. Dr Green completed her residency and advanced surgical training in Sydney and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1997. She travelled overseas and undertook 18 months of fellowship training in Hand Surgery at the Indiana Hand Centre, USA and Institut de la Main, Paris, France.
Dr Green practised in Sydney for almost 10 years and was a VMO at Sydney Hospital Hand Unit, the largest specialty Hand Surgery Unit in Australia. In 2009 she moved to Brisbane with her family for her husband’s RAAF posting and practised at the Wesley Hospital for 7 years before relocating permanently to Canberra with her husband, a senior RAAF pilot, and their children in 2016.
Dr Green is the Chair of the AOA Orthopaedic Women’s Link Committee and active as one of 4 observers on the AOA Board of Directors. She has been the ACT RACS Women in Surgery Representative since 2017 and is the AOA Representative to the Diversity Council of Australia. Dr Green is the Australian Hand Surgery Society representative on the Australian Ethical Health Care Alliance (AEHA), a recently established collaboration of 71 healthcare organisations including RACS, RACP, RACGP, public and private hospital associations and medical industry who are working together to drive ethical behaviours across the Australian healthcare landscape. She is passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in surgery and very engaged in implementing the AOA Diversity Strategy.
Dr Green is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), Australian Hand Surgery Society (AHSS), NSW Hand Surgery Society, Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
